Webster Ridge Farm was an old apple orchard

We brought the 91 acre property in 1998 and moved in April of that year. Brandon always wanted a apple orchard. But this property was long out of use when we bought it.  It had been the largest orchard in Merrimack County in the 30's and 40's with 3,000 standard apple trees.

Brandon was a tech guy , but was extremely good at any craft or skill he took up. He built a pole barn, a shed for the donkey, shelters for the goats, a free standing chicken house and a chicken house attached to the pole barn. He also helped to put up the timber frame kitchen  Addition and did most of the work himself on the interior and exterior structural panels. He was a very handy guy!

He also was the only person I knew who could read computer books and manuals and understand them!
He was taught to do plumbing and other skills from the master plumbers, masons and carpenters  who worked for him when he owned a bath and kitchen renovation business.

The farm is open for business:

Welcome to the Daily Page

The garden has benefited from the heat and the daily watering when needed! Zorra likes hanging outside as it is cooler than in the house.

The rain and the heatwave have made it difficult to attack the excessive plant growth next to my house. I have been dealing with it in small doses. One morning I ripped down the English ivy that was climbing up the front of the house and Zorra thought she had lost me. So she went on a walkabout along our regular evening path down the street.....Luckily there were no cars around and she eventually came back when she heard me calling. I realized she couldn't have seen me as she is short and the growth on the roadside of the house is fairly tall.
I have been doing everything in short increments around the farm. I have a hard time with the HEAT AND HUMIDITY! I have had heat exhaustion a couple of times.....that is scary when you live alone. Luckily the basement in the Addition is cooler and has a nice cool dry concrete floor....Zorra enjoys it too!
REMEMBER THE TICKS ARE STILL AROUND! CHECK YOURSELF, CHILDREN AND THE DOG THE SAME TIME EVERYDAY !
