FARM BLOG
FROM THE FARMERS POINT OF VIEW

All by myself....

8/9/2019

You don't realize how many things you haven't done because your spouse was in charge of that activity. Brandon was always the grill master. It helps that I wasn't home most of the summer , so I wasn't responsible for much of the cooking.  I was very proud of myself this evening as I finished canning Blueberry Jam and peach jam and had the kitchen clean ready to make dinner.  I started the Smoky Joe Weber grill without using the chimney and added enough charcoal to cook the T-bone to perfection! I have to admit I ate the whole thing............with canning all day I didn't eat much. I won't need a red meat hit for at least a week now.
Zorra was very funny today and has been doing lot's of singing. She really wants to go out and hang out with the chickens and she get's mad when I don't need to stay out by the pen when my chores are done.  Sometimes I have to get behind her to move her along as she doesn't want to leave those chicky girls. But once we are inside she becomes a large tan blob on the floor and of course.....sings.....

The Summer Moon.....

Brandon took the picture about 4 years ago. I found the pictures on my computer and needed to post it as I have had Brandon on my mind. Some cruel person has cloned my phone number and when the phone rings it comes up as Brandon Sussman. But it is my home phone number. The #**%$#& person called 10 times in one day. It made me very sad.....sometimes people can be real #%***$#.

I almost drank a Praying Mantis......

8/6/2019

While I was grilling dinner this evening I picked up a Hitch hiker. I didn't realize it till I was in the bathroom and looked in the mirror and saw a small  white praying  mantis. It escaped me and I didn't know where it went till I went to drink from my glass of grapefruit soda and found the little white mantis floating in the liquid. I emptied the glass in the sink and the mantis was still alive. I offered the mantis a ride with a sponge and took it outside and  I put it on one of my hanging plants. I love praying mantis.....they are so animated and such good hunters.
