FROM THE FARMERS POINT OF VIEW
Between the crickets, sheep and the new layer chicks....it has been pretty noisy. Now many of you may know that if the new chicks are noisy they are cold....that is not a good thing. So you use an infrared lamp and once they become quiet, you need to check that they aren't too hot . I enjoy the chicks and Zorra finds them fascinating . She comes into the barn with me and she puts her paws up on the brooder to watch me give them grain and water. The sheep are noisy as well as they go to and from the fields they call to each other and occasionally the donkey will let out a bray. The old layers are chasing grasshoppers as they pass through their pen and the girls get any horn worms that don't have parasitic wasps on them. More power to the parasitic wasps to eat those horn worms! https://ugaurbanag.com/tomato-hornworms-and-parasitic-wasps/#:~:text=Tomato%20hornworms%20(Manduca%20quinquemaculata)%20are,serious%20problem%20for%20tomato%20growers.&text=A%20female%20wasp%20has%20laid,spin%20the%20cocoons%20you%20see. |
