My squash plants are enjoying the rain....although the crew rebuilding my pole barn is not as thrilled with the rain. But it is nice to not have to water everyday! The pole barn project is moving along and will be a great improvement over what was there before. This is the before picture , where the floor was still covered in old concrete The beginning posts are going up! Moving along : more pictures soon!
We have had over 5 inches of rain since the beginning of July...although I may have forgotten to record the amount of inches some days after I dumped the water out of the rain gauge.
Unfortunately with the rain my old back and pelvis injury from a 2004 auto accident has reared it's ugly head. But I am back to physical therapy and hopefully that will help. But with that said I haven't been able to harvest enough strawberries to fill my 60 lb quota that I need to make many of my strawberry jams and it's variations. But I have had a heavy harvest of wild black raspberries and that will give me a chance to make more blackberry jams and mixes with other fruits. I am hoping to pick Blueberries this weekend and Raspberries during next week. Corn has already started to arrive and I have made spicy corn relish, corn zucchini relish and today I am making Zany Zucchini Pickles (bread and butter type without the onions). |
