What's Up at WRLG
FARM BLOG
FROM THE FARMERS POINT OF VIEW
Exciting news! The black sex link layers have had their first two eggs. I was sure they were going to start laying soon especially when yesterday I heard those girls squawking. Up to yesterday they weren't making much noise and didn't greet me at the coop door. But today all the chickens met me at the coop door anticipating food, scratch and clean water. When I left the coop there was quite a celebration going on.
As you can see from the picture above we had some snow. Yes it has been cold and the weather caught me with my pant's down...so to speak. I hadn't put away the summer hoses, garden stakes or finished winterizing the chicken coop. So mother nature wins this round...but I hope it doesn't go to her head! Yes we are moving inside! I can't wait....Last year was a bit chilly vending outside in the cold. But I will try to be at every winter market unless the weather or lambing gets in the way!
